Harry Redknapp has joked that his son Jamie flirted with a juror during his tax evasion trial.
“I could be back in court when I tell this bleeding story...” said Harry, as he started his anecdote at a talk at the Royal Albert Hall this week.
Ignoring his own warning, he continued with a tale about the “stunner” who was on the jury at his 2012 trial, where he denied doing dodgy dealings.
Harry had been accused of accepting secret untaxed bonus payments when he was manager at Portsmouth from chairman Milan Mandaric, the Serbian-American business tycoon who has also owned Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday football clubs.
During the court case, 72-year-old Harry claims his solicitor pointed out a woman on the jury to Jamie and said: “She keeps looking at you.”
Football pundit Jamie, 45, a former Spurs and Liverpool player who was married to ex-Eternal star Louise at the time, valiantly said. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep looking at her as well.” Harry said: “For 14 days her and Jamie were playing games.
“They’re giving each other the eye.
“She’s a stunner.
“The last day, the jury comes in to give out their verdict. I thought, ‘I’m in with a chance here’.”
Harry was, indeed, cleared of tax evasion.
And if the juror is still interested, Jamie is currently single.
