Jamie Redknapp makes Daniel James prediction after sealing Manchester United exit

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Daniel James can become a "star" at Leeds United as he closes in on an exit from Manchester United.

The Wales international has completed a £25million move to Elland Road after undergoing a medical earlier on today and signing his contract.

Despite starting United's 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon, United's stance on James' future was changed following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, meaning opportunities may have proven to be limited for what the winger deserves.

However, he is now set to complete a move to Leeds and bring his two-year spell at Old Trafford to an end.

Although James' United career has not mapped out exactly how he would have hoped following his move from Swansea City, the winger, in the eyes of Redknapp, could make a huge name for himself in West Yorkshire.

Redknapp told Sky Sports: "Yes, I think he’ll be a hit. I’m pleased for him actually, because at a club like Man United the pressure is so much and every time he played there would be a player on the bench and there would be a player who could come on for him after 60/70 minutes and you could feel it got to him a bit.

"But going to Leeds, a huge club, great fanbase, to work with a manager like [Marcelo] Bielsa who will take his game to another level and there will be more individual attention on him, he can be a bit of a star there.

"There’s a lot of good players in this Leeds side, I think that’s a really good signing for them."

James, who was on the brink of joining Leeds two-and-a-half years ago from Swansea, only for the deal to collapse with just minutes of the January transfer window remaining, will leave Old Trafford having made 74 appearances for United, scoring nine times.
