Jamie Paterson proved Dean Holden right as he opens up on Bristol City message at Huddersfield

Jamie Paterson played the role of super-sub for Bristol City against Huddersfield Town - just as Robins boss Dean Holden predicted.

Bristol City’s second half comeback against Huddersfield Town was completed by Paterson’s 83 rd minute match winner after Jay Dasilva had brought the Robins level in Yorkshire.

Striking Jay Dasilva’s low cross first time, Paterson rifled the ball past Ben Hamer at the near post to give City all three points as they ended a five-match winless streak.

And Paterson has praised Bristol City manager Holden’s motivation, which spurred the substitute on to turn the game on its head.

“The gaffer told us everyone is involved, everyone is confident,” he said after the game.

“Today I didn’t start but I had the confidence I could come on and change the game and that’s exactly what he predicted.”

“I was happy to get that goal in the end and it was a massive three points.

“In the last couple of days, we worked on being compact and I think it really showed. We came good in the end and killed the game in the last 10 minutes with the goal.”

With this goal the 28-year-old becomes City’s top scorer so far this season, as he finds the back of the net for the fourth time in 11 matches.

Bristol City only have a few days before they are back in action, as they face Cardiff City on Friday night.

And Paterson has spoken of the significance of the upcoming match, and how important it is to keep the winning momentum going after the Robins ended their spell of five matches without a victory with the win against the Terriers.

“We have a big game against Cardiff City coming up on Friday night, then the (International) break and if we can go into Friday with confidence and another three points, it will be a great start to this season,” Paterson said.
