Jamie Paterson injury update and the 'vital thing' Swansea City must do to deliver result against Millwall

Jamie Paterson will miss Swansea City's Championship clash with Millwall due to injury.

The attacker did not feature in his side's matches against Oxford United and Blackpool and will miss the visit of the Lions due to a knock. And it remains uncertain whether or not the 30-year-old will be involved when Russell Martin's men welcome Luton Town to the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday.

"He's doing OK. He won't be available for tomorrow either," said assistant head coach Matt Gill.

"It's ongoing but hopefully we won't be without him for too much longer. He's rehabbing nicely so hopefully we'll have him back involved as soon as we can."

And when asked if Paterson was in contention to face Luton, Gill responded: "We'll have to wait and see. Tomorrow night is too soon, but we'll have to see for the weekend."

Swansea have no fresh injury concerns following their 1-0 win at Blackpool on Saturday. Millwall go into the game having come from two goals down to beat Coventry City 3-2 at the weekend.

However, the Swans impressed - particularly in the first-half - during their triumph over Blackpool and took more risks in the final third than they had in their opening two league matches against Rotherham United and Blackburn Rovers.

And Gill says Swansea must replicate the energy they showed at Bloomfield Road in their home matches against Millwall and Luton Town this week.

"Last season we had two really competitive games against them," added Gill. "They’ve started the season well with a couple of wins. They’ve recruited really smartly in the summer. They’ll be buoyed from Saturday’s comeback victory, coming from two goals down.

"The performance is always the most important and hopefully that’ll lead to the three points. I think it’s down to us to show the energy again on Tuesday night that we did on Saturday.

"That’s a vital thing for us, that we provide real energy and aggression in the final third and attacking moments to have a positive impact at home and get the fanbase behind us as well."

Kick-off against Millwall is at 7:45pm on Tuesday.
