Jamie Oliver shares how to cook the 'perfect crepe' on Pancake Day

Jamie Oliver has revealed his top tips to cook up the "perfect crêpe" to ensure you aren't left disappointed on Pancake Day.

The celebrity chef uploaded a clip on how to nail the cooking technique for Instagram-worthy pancakes - but the first thing you need to worry about is mixing the batter.

In a collaboration with food YouTuber Alex, he shared one of his "very best recipes" using one cup of plain flour, one and a half cups of milk, three eggs, and a sprinkle of sea salt.

He puts the four ingredients into a bowl and combines them with a whisk until all the lumps have been removed and he's left with a smooth batter.

Once you've got the perfect batter, it's still easy to mess up when it comes to cooking, so Jamie explained the simple steps to follow if you want to get it right.

After leaving the batter to rest, he puts a wide pan on a medium-high heat and rubs butter on the bottom to make sure the batter doesn't stick.

You should then ladle in just enough mixture to coat the base of your pan, swirling it around to cover the entire surface.

Jamie cooks it for one minute before picking it up with his bare hands like the expert he is and flipping it over, but adds you can instead use a fish slice or attempt a pancake toss - which should be the only option.

It should only take one minute on each side before it's ready to eat, and the chef added: "If it's taking too long to cook, turn the heat up. If it's cooking too quickly, turn the pan down.

"Finally you find that place where you get a lovely, light golden pancake, super silky and soft."
