Jamie Oliver plans fresh start with re-marriage to wife Jools and time out

It’s been a difficult year for Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools, following the closure of 22 of his restaurants.

But the couple are putting a (bare) foot forward as they prepare to walk down the aisle again next year to mark their 20th anniversary.

Jools says she wants to “do things differently” this time, after the pair first wed in a “classic English wedding”.

The couple, who celebrated their 19th anniversary last week with Jamie calling Jools his “backbone”, want a more relaxed second wedding.

Jools, 44, says: “Next year, we’ll have been married 20 years, and we’re going to get married again, but do things differently – outside and barefoot.

"Our wedding was formal, but we’re so not like that. It’ll be a big party. Why the hell not? I think we’ve done well!”

Of her first wedding, she adds: “Our first dance was to Dusty Springfield’s 'I Only Want To Be With You', but Jamie doesn’t like dancing, so I threw him off. I was in my element!”

First the couple are taking a fortnight off in Cornwall from a year Jamie, 44, has described as “challenging”, after his chain went into administration.

“Everyone looks shattered and we all need a break,” Jools tells Red magazine’s August edition.

“All I wanted was children and to get stuck into home life. I was quite true to myself in that way,’ she adds.

At the end of May, Jamie Oliver's flagship London restaurant was cleared out by bailiffs after the chain's collapse put 1,300 people out of work.

Furniture from the celebrity chef's flagship branch was moved into a van, as tables and chairs could be seen stacked inside the vehicle parked outside.

The building was completely emptied from top to bottom, and even Jamie's cookbooks were taken away alongside every single piece of kitchen equipment.

The business, which includes Jamie's Italian, went into administration, and all but three of his 25 outlets have now closed.
