Jamie Oliver drops two stone after making simple change in his diet

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has dropped two stone in weight after making a simple change to his daily meals.

Jamie - who is best known for his popular cooking shows on Channel 4 - revealed that choosing healthier meals and halving portion sizes had an immediate effect on his weight.

He said dropping meat from his meals had helped him to unintentionally shift around 28 pounds, reports the MEN.

Speaking to the Radio Times, the 46-year-old explained: “I pushed meat down, pushed veggie up, got more sleep and more movement.

“I lost 12 kilos quite quickly and I didn't do it through not eating."

Along with swapping meat for large portions of vegetables, Jamie also recommended people start snacking on nuts as they’re beneficial for heart health.

The award-winning chef also said Seaweed was “the most nutritious vegetable in the world.”

Jamie shares five kids - Poppy, 19, Daisy, 18, Petal, 12, Buddy, 11, and five-year-old River - with wife Jools Oliver.

In the interview, which took place last year, the popular chef urged people to "feed them to your kids as well" when talking about upping his portions of veg.

He released a cookbook in August 2019 called Ultimate Veg where he showed his love for veggies, as the book was full of plant-based recipes.

Jamie also revealed he had cut back on booze and only drinks on a weekend - after banning alcohol during the weekdays - and tried to get more sleep at night.

He said the changes to his diet have made him "more mindful" and he has a positive "consciousness".

Jamie shared his wife Jools' recipe for granola on his website calling it the “perfect portable breakfast” too.

He wrote: “Granola is a great way to enjoy all the different types of dried fruits, nuts and seeds that you might not otherwise get in your diet."

Speaking to panellists on Loose Women in 2015, Jamie said he had been inspired to lose weight after he realised he hadn’t spent any time looking after himself.

He said: “I went back to school and started studying nutrition, started travelling to parts of the world to where people live the longest lives and started looking at their lifestyles."
