Jamie O'Hara tells Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou Tottenham are a 'bang average club'

Ange Postecoglou is Jamie O'Hara's pick to perform a Tottenham rebuild like he did at Celtic – but has warned the manager the English giants are a "bang average club".

The rumour mill has ramped up ahead of Scottish Cup Final weekend, where the 57-year-old has all his focus, as victory over Inverness would see his side claim a Treble. But talk of the Premier League won't go away and it's believed Postecoglou is high on Daniel Levy's list of potential managerial candidates to replace Antonio Conte. Since arriving in 2021, the former Socceroos manager has rebuilt the Parkhead squad and delivered five trophies from a possible six domestically.

Outspoken pundit and former Tottenham midfielder O'Hara tells talkSPORT that going with a flashy manager again won't work, as a total rebuild is needed. And he feels Postecoglou, former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter are the three best men equipped for duty, serving that with an objectives warning.

He said: “I have now come to the conclusion that we need to stop going for big-time managers. These big-time managers get the hump. It looks all shiny on the outside, you’ve got a beautiful stadium, nice facilities, and you’ve got Harry Kane playing up front.

“You think Tottenham are a big club, but when you get there, you realise the way the football club is run is not run like a big club. It’s run like a bang-average football club who is only about making money for the club and not glory moments.

“So I think we need to go away from that, start like we did with Pochettino, start afresh. Start with someone like Graham Potter or Brendan Rodgers or the Celtic manager, Postecoglou.

"We might not win anything, but we’re going to build the team, rebuild the team, get rid of the deadwood and start again. We go from there. Every time we keep trying to get a Mourinho or a Conte to try and win us a trophy, it just fails. We end up looking stupid.”
