Jamie Murphy prepares to make Rangers return as Graham Dorrans steps us fitness bid

Rangers are set to be boosted by the return of Graham Dorrans and Jamie Murphy before the end of the season.

Both have been out long-term though injury but are poised to make their comebacks.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard revealed on Thursday morning Murphy could be playing again before the summer having been out with a torn ACL.

He injured himself on Kilmarnock’s plastic pitch in August and the initial prognosis ruled him out for the rest of the season.

But Gerrard revealed today he could be back kicking a ball before the campaign ends.

The manager said: "Jamie has got a small chance to be involved in the last week or two.

"He’s progressing well. Jamie’s happy and we’re happy with how it’s progressing. We’ll keep analysing as the weeks go by."

Dorrans, meanwhile, is also making good progress on his injury. The 31-year-old hasn’t played since the Betfred Cup win over Ayr in September.

A knee injury wrecked his campaign last season and it resurfaced seven months ago.

With just a year left on his contract, the midfielder is desperate to make an impact with his boyhood heroes.
