Jamie Murphy makes Rangers wish as he thanks supporters on injury return

Rangers comeback winger Jamie Murphy insists he's desperate to spend the rest of his career at Ibrox after making his return from injury.

The Scotland international made his first appearance since August last year in the 5-0 win over Hamilton and is determined to reclaim a regular place in the Rangers squad.

It's been 14 months since he suffered a season-ending ACL injury on the artificial Rugby Park surface in a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock but Rangers fans were delighted to see him return.

The 30-year-old's introduction in the second half as a replacement for Steven Davis saw one of the loudest cheers of the day.

Murphy grew up a Rangers fan and has five goals in his 24 appearances so far as well as a number of assists.

And now he hopes he can cement a place in Steven Gerrard's side and stay at Ibrox for the rest of his career.

He tweeted: "Thank you to everyone who has supported me over these last 14 months. Family, friends, teammates, staff and football fans from all over.

"I couldn't have done it without you. Excited now to move on with the est of my footballing career, which I hope will be in a blue jersey."
