MELBOURNE, Australia – Jamie Mullarkey is looking to add another finish to his resume.
He takes on Brad Riddell this Saturday at UFC 243 and has no intentions of letting the fight go the distance.
“The goal is to win in devastating fashion,” Mullarkey told MMA Junkie. “Fifteen pro fights, I got 13 pro wins, all of them are finishes. I’m here to take you out. That’s my goal every fight. Every fight my goal is to win in devastating fashion.
“I’m going to finish this guy. One hundred percent I’m coming out with my hand raised, and the referee is going to be pulling me off of him.”
Mullarkey took this fight on short notice but had zero hesitation when he got the call. He expects the packed crowd to be on his side at Marvel Stadium.
“It was like a three-week camp,” Mullarkey said. “Like short and intense, but I’m always training, so I wasn’t in an intense camp, but I was training, being ready for this. So it all worked out.
“Aussies are going to have my back 100 percent.”
Former kickboxer Riddell has half the MMA experience Mullarkey does, but has finished the majority of his fights, too.
And Mullarkey is expecting a back-and-forth battle with the City Kickboxing fighter in what, on paper, should be a thrilling contest between two finishers.
“He’s tough,” Mullarkey said. “He’s a tough opponent. I think he’s going to be pretty well rounded. He comes from a good camp. Everything I can expect, I think he’s going to bring. I think it’s going to be a tough, scrappy fight, and it’s going to come down to who wants it more.”
