Jamie Lynn Spears’ husband, who is also named Jamie, has come to the defence of the family after Britney Spears‘ shocking testimony earlier this week.
Speaking at a court hearing on Friday, Britney said that her family didn’t do anything to help her throughout her 13 year conservatorship. She then said she would like to sue her “whole family.”
Jamie Watson has responded to those harsh allegations and told the New York Post that it’s not true that Britney Spears’ family were against her.
“I can assure you her family loves her and wants the best for her,” he said.
“I wouldn’t be around people who weren’t. Who wouldn’t want to be in support of Britney?”
But those comments need to be taken with a grain of salt, because Jamie Lynn Spears actually has signifiant control over her sisters’ finances. In 2018, she was secretly named trustee of Britney’s estate in 2018, according to documents obtained by The Blast. She also tried to gain more authority over the Piece of Me singer’s finances last year, when she requested control over trust fund money set up for Britney’s children.
Not only that, but Jamie Lynn has also refused to speak on any matters regarding her sister’s mental health in the past. In 2o2o amid growing concerns about Britney’s welfare and the rise of the #FreeBritney movement, Jamie Lynn told a fan on Instagram that she is keeping things “private” for the sake of her sister.
“I would never speak our just to clarify things to the public, when the person it pertains to does not want that to happen,” Jamie Lynn said.
“I’d rather take all the hate, [than] speak about someone else’s personal matter, that they want to be kept private.”
Since the testimony, Britney’s little sister has disabled comments on her Instagram after a slew of Free Britney supporters slammed her for being silent about the conservatorship.
