Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas's daughter Polly is 'overjoyed' that her dad has found new love with his dentist fiancée Jess Bell.
Happy news broke on Monday that 48-year-old Jamie popped the question to 34-year-old Jess and the TV star’s family are all behind the engagement.
Jamie shares 12-year-old daughter Polly with his 47-year-old ex-wife, Hear’Say and Coronation Street star Kym Marsh.
And while some parents might be anxious that their children might struggle to adapt when they move on to new marriages, Jamie says his daughter fully supports him and Jess over their upcoming marriage.
Speaking to OK!, Jamie gushed: “She’s over the moon!” Jamie and Kym were in a relationship for five years from 2008, marrying in 2012, but splitting in 2013 and divorcing in 2014.
The former couple welcomed daughter Polly in March 2011 – and also shared a son named Archie, who tragically died moments after he was born in February 2009.
Jamie also has a 17-year-old son named Billy from an earlier relationship.
Speaking to OK! at the beginning of the week, Jamie explained how he was introduced to Jess through a mutual friend and the pair found themselves falling for each other.
He said: “We built the friendship first – we both thought that was important – and then something deeper grew out of that. Then one day I came home and noticed her toothbrush had taken up residence in the bathroom.
“Then it was deodorant and perfume. Next thing she’d moved an entire shelf of her stuff in. And now I can’t get rid of her!“
The pair dated for three years before Jamie whisked Jess off to Mexico in May and got down on one knee at their favourite restaurant to ask her to be his wife.
Now the happy couple are looking ahead to their wedding day - which Jess says will take place in Sin City.
She told OK!: “We’re thinking of a Vegas wedding performed in a chapel by an Elvis impersonator. I am a huge fan of The King.”
It was first reported that Jamie and Jess had started dating in August 2021 after meeting through mutual friends.
They went public with their relationship when they walked the red carpet together at the Pride of Manchester awards in May, 2022.
A source said at the time: “Jamie and Jess met through friends and have been growing close over the past few months.
“It's pretty clear to those around him that Jamie is really into Jess and they make a lovely couple.“
