Jamie Lee Harrison at Newcastle Cathedral is set to prove another big hit with fans

Gateshead singer Jamie Lee Harrison has just announced a return gig to Newcastle Cathedral where he wowed a packed audience last year.

The 24-year-old, whose career has been on the rise ever since his 2017 appearance on TV 's Britain’s Got Talent, was a sell-out at the city landmark last year.

And no doubt fans will be delighted to hear that he'll be back there in November with a new show.

He said: “There was something extra special about performing in the Cathedral last year -  the atmosphere was amazing!

"I had so many people contact me afterwards about how much they enjoyed it and I decided to make it an annual thing."

He added: "It's different to any other gig I’ve played."

The singer-songwriter has been making his mark in music with self-penned hits ever since his memorable Britain's Got Talent appearances which featured stand-out renditions of R.E.M’s Everybody Hurts and Kelly Clarkson’s Piece By Piece.

Those saw him through to the live shows, and then reach the semi-finals of the talent competition, and following his time in the national spotlight - which came after years spent honing his music skills - he has performed across the world at a whopping 1,500 gigs.

He reached number eight in the official UK independent singles chart with debut single When We Meet and his powerful songwriting echoes early comments made by Simon Cowell who told him:  “You have real soul."

The release of Reflection, which was co-written with his friend  - and former X Factor contestant -  Lucy Spraggan, raised awareness about mental health issues in young men and drew from his own experiences of depression.

And it certainly stuck a chord, prompting new music magazine When The Horn Blows to say: ”His thoughtfully-crafted lyrics are devastatingly moving and relatable to anyone who has ever felt the way he has felt."

Now, with a new single due out this summer - following Powerful at the end of last year - and upcoming performances including a slot at the on August 26,  he has plenty to keep him busy but is looking forward to his city date.
