Jamie Langfield hits back at Ryan Jack criticism after Rangers star's cup final tears

Jamie Langfield has leaped to the defence of Ryan Jack after the Rangers midfielder was criticised for crying after Sunday's Betfred Cup Final.

Jack had been one of the best players on the pitch but couldn't guide his team over the line against Celtic with Chris Jullien's second half strike enough to keep the trophy at Celtic Park.

The Ibrox star was visibly emotional and had to be consoled by Steven Gerrard on the pitch.

Criticism was aimed at Jack for crying with suggestions he wasn't a leader in the Rangers team because Scott Brown wouldn't do the same with Celtic.

But Langfield - who played with Jack at Aberdeen - insists it was good to see how much it meant to him.

He said: "So young men should keep their emotions bottled up and never show them? That's why in society we have so many problems. Just cause Scott (Brown) doesn't do it, doesn't mean it's wrong for Ryan to do it.

"I salute Jacko for it, it's good to see how much it hurts as players are not robots."

Langfield was backed up by Charlie Adam with the former Rangers midfielder adding: "Totally agree. The whole build up and emotion, it can get to players."
