Jamie Laing confirms Made in Chelsea exit to compete in Strictly Come Dancing

Reality TV star Jamie Laing has confirmed his exit from Made in Chelsea to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The long-running cast member of the E4 structured reality series had been due to take part in Strictly last year until an injury forced him to be replaced by Kelvin Fletcher.

After pairing with Jamie's professional dance partner Oti Mabuse, former Emmerdale star Kelvin went on to win the Glitterball trophy for the 2019 series.

In an interview with Sunday Times Style, Jamie confirmed that he had taken a step back from Made in Chelsea to enable his participation in the BBC One dancing show.

Jamie said: "I am incredibly loyal towards [production company] Monkey Kingdom and Channel 4; a lot of people talk badly about reality shows and say they were shown in a bad light.

"Well, I was shown in a bad light, I was shown in a good light. I went on the most amazing holidays - I got paid to hang out with my friends.

"And I was on TV for 10 years I'd never say: 'Hey, that's me done', but yes I am definitely taking a step back."

Reflecting on his decade with the E4 reality series, Jamie discussed how his perception of fame has changed.

He revealed: "I did Made In Chelsea for so long and at the beginning we thought we were famous, we were nothing!"

The McVities heir is currently dating MiC co-star Sophie 'Habbs' Habboo after having previously been part of some of the show's biggest storylines.

Jamie was caught in a love triangle with best friend Spencer Matthews and Louise Thompson, whilst has also romanced Phoebe Lettice, Lucy Watson, and Frankie Gaff.

Most recently, Jamie has been seen supporting his close friend Sam Thompson following the revelation that his girlfriend Zara McDermott had cheated on him a year prior to his finding out.

Made in Chelsea airs on Mondays at 9pm on E4 and Strictly Come Dancing airs on BBC One on weekends.
