Jamie Hamilton Hearts red card rescinded as Accies win appeal

Hamilton Accies defender Jamie Hamilton has won an appeal against his red card in the weekend draw with Hearts.

The centre-back, who was also dismissed in the defeat to Celtic, was running toward his own goal when the ball struck his hand in the 21st minute.

Referee Kevin Clancy deemed it deliberate and concluded he had been denying a goalscoring opportunity, sending the youngster off.

Hamilton were 2-0 up at the time and went on to draw 2-2, and the club put in an appeal against the red card.

That has been successful, with Accies announcing: "We can now confirm Jamie Hamilton’s red card at Tynecastle has been rescinded."

That means Hamilton will be available for the Lanarkshire derby against Motherwell on Saturday.

Accies are currently second bottom of the Scottish Premiership, one point ahead of Hearts after the draw at Tynecastle with another six games remaining until the split.
