Jamie Gillan earns AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in his first month in the NFL

The decision by Browns GM John Dorsey to take a risk and keep rookie punter Jamie Gillan over veteran Britton Colquitt keeps looking better by the day. Gillan captured the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month in his first four weeks in the NFL.

Gillan won the award for his consistent booming kicks and hang time. “The Scottish Hammer” pinned 11 of his punts inside the opposing 20-yard line. In addition, his 20 punts have resulted in just 19 total return yards.

Gillan won the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 2, and his strength over the entire first four weeks was good enough to merit the monthly win, too.

Congrats to Gillan!
