Jamie George comes in as Saracens name strong XV for Richmond clash

Jamie George is the only one of Saracens’ six England stars to slot straight into their XV for the Championship clash away at Richmond on Sunday.

Owen Farrell and Billy Vunipola left the field with head injuries in England’s defeat to Ireland last Saturday, while Mako Vunipola, Maro Itoje and Elliot Daly – all of whom started that match – are yet to be called upon by Saracens.

George lost his place as England’s starting hooker and comes straight into a strong side. Also involved from the bench is Sean Maitland, who is not playing for Scotland in Paris tonight because of limits on the number of English-based players they could select.

Sarries have made three changes to their starting team, with Dom Morris and Will Hooley also coming in. At prop, Richard Barrington makes his 200th appearance for the club.

McCall admitted this week that Sarries do not have much “margin for error” in their pursuit of promotion after losing – and not even securing a bonus-point – to Cornish Pirates in the opening round. They have since beaten Jersey Reds, but their rivals Ealing Trailfinders have shown their quality with three bonus-point victories.
