Jamie Dornan voices support for NI Pancreatic Cancer charity on social media

Jamie Dornan has renewed efforts to help fund-raising for the NI Pancreatic Cancer charity.

The Holywood-born actor shared details on his Instagram this week, urging people to donate to the charity, which helps support research into the disease, as well as support for patients and their families.

The charity is one which Jamie Dornan has said is close to his heart, given that he lost his mother to pancreatic cancer more than twenty years ago.

The NIPanC is currently in the middle of a major fundraising drive, which is being supported by The Fall actor.

In a video message recorded ahead of Christmas in support of the charity, Jamie said: “The fight against Pancreatic Cancer is dear to my heart, for tragic reasons.

“This Christmas NIPanC is running a ‘Quilt of Hope’ draw to raise awareness of Pancreatic Cancer and to support research on finding an answer to this terrible cancer.

“The Quilt, hand crafted by the Northern Ireland Big Sew Group, is a true work of Art.  I will be signing it and will be making a Zoom call to congratulate the lucky winner.”

The star also shared a message reminded people about the drive on his Instagram account yeesterday.

Between now and the end of February, everyone donating £5 or more to NIPanC will be entered in a draw for the fabulous ‘Quilt of Hope’ (if they wish to be).

The ‘Quilt of Hope’ is a queen-sized quilt stitched by the brilliant Northern Ireland Big Community Sew.

The NIPanC donate link can be found on NIPanC’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

Speaking about the actor's supportive efforts for fundraising, NIPanC's Brian Grzymek said: “At a time when Covid is affecting the fund-raising of all charities, it is great that Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer’s patron, Jamie Dornan, has agreed to front our Quilt of Hope Appeal.”

“Jamie, who lost his mother to this terrible disease more than 20 years ago, has invited his fans around the world to support this appeal. The money raised will be channelled into research into raising awareness, improved treatments and to family support in Northern Ireland.”

“And, of course, the cherry on the cake for Jamie’s fans is that he will be signing the beautiful Quilt and will be congratulating the winner via zoom once the draw is made on 1 March.”

“There is still time to donate to NIPanC and enter the free draw – look for details on the NIPanC social media pages or go to Virgin Giving and select NIPanC.”
