Jamie Dornan stars in new rom-com Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar by creators of Bridesmaids

The trailer for Jamie Dornan's latest film has been released and it sees the Co Down actor take on quite a different role that we're used to, as he stars in rom-com Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.

Written by and starring Bridesmaid's duo Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig, the movie tells the story best friends Barb and Star, who leave their small Midwestern town for the first time to go on vacation in Vista Del Mar, Florida, where they soon find themselves tangled up in adventure, love, and a villain's evil plot to kill everyone in town.

Lionsgate announced this week that the film, which had been due to be released in theatres back in July but was delayed due to the pandemic, will now go directly to Premium Video On Demand on February 12.

Speaking about the film previously, Jamie Dornan told This Morning host Eamonn Holmes he enjoyed getting back into doing a comedy movie again.

"It's called Barb and Star go to Vista del Mar so as you can tell by the title it's a very serious movie," he laughed.

"It was meant to come out four days ago but we've postponed the release by a year because of the pandemic but I always thought I would do comedy early on and then I played a psychopath and no-one really thought of me that way so I've been trying to get back to it a little bit."

The film also stars Damon Wayans Jr, Josh Greenbaum, Kwame Patterson, Vanessa Bayer, Rose Abdoo and The Office's Phyllis Smith.

The Hollywood hearthrob has also recently completed filming new movie Belfast, a semi-autobiographical retelling of Kenneth Branagh's upbringing in the city.

The film also stars Ciarán Hinds, Bríd Brennan, Colin Morgan, as well as the screen icon Dame Judi Dench and performers such as Caitríona Balfe and newcomer Jude Hill.

Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar will be released on February 12.
