Jamie Dornan reveals he lost out on Superman role but still has sights set on getting his own cape

Jamie Dornan has revealed he auditioned for Superman but lost out on the role to Henry Cavill.

The Holywood man still has his sight set on playing a superhero role, according The New York Times.

In the interview published on Thursday, the Northern Irish actor spoke about his friend Robert Pattinson, who has won the title of next year's 'The Batman'.

Dornan said: “I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I feel like him and his people have played it really cleverly.

“Everything he’s done since ‘Twilight’ has been really smart and beautifully crafted, and those films aren’t financed on his name had he not been in these movies that made billions of dollars.”

NY times report that Dornan has met with the Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige about getting his very own cape.

Jamie said: “I’m more ambitious than I’ve ever let on before.

“It’s like a necessity to deliver and provide [as a father], very caveman-esque: I must succeed for these precious little people . Also, since my dad died, it’s lit this extra fire within me, this extra burner of wanting to succeed.”

The 39-year-old said this desire isn't to 'win love he never got'.

“Dad would tell me that endless times every day of my life, so I’m not seeking that.

“But for some reason, since he’s gone, I have a weird thing of wanting to prove something to myself, to prove some sort of succession that is impressive," Dornan added.
