Jamie Dornan new comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar DVD release date set

New comedy Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar featuring Jamie Dornan is set to be released on DVD next week.

Lifelong friends Barb and Star embark on the adventure of a lifetime and leave their small Midwestern town for the first time ever, with the Belfast native playing Edgar Paget - their love interest.

The pair find themselves "tangled up in adventure, love, and a villain's evil plot to kill everyone in town".

The Lionsgate film was written by and stars Bridesmaid's duo Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig and will be available on DVD on April 12 in the UK from retailers including Amazon and HMV.

It is currently available to buy on digital download on Amazon Prime for £11.99 or £13.99 on Sky Store.

Dornan shows his goofy side in the new movie (Cate Cameron/Lionsgate)

Jamie Dornan features his light-hearted and goofy side in this movie with scenes including ripping his shirt off and running back and forth on the beach while singing.

When speaking to Vulture, Dornan opened up on when he realised how much of a big musical number this scene was going to be.

He said: "I’m going to have to throw myself at this as violently as I can and have fun with it. I’ve got a very silly side to me. I felt like I was totally able to express myself in that song."

The heart-throb also told Vulture that when ripping his shirt off, half the time he was left embarrassed as he couldn't even do it.

So far, the movie has received good reviews and a rating of 6.5 out of 10 on IMDb and 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.

One viewer said: "This movie is complete nonsense and I loved it so much.

"At first I wasn't won over by one of the main plots and didn't understand why it was there, I thought the movie should have just been about the main characters trip but it proved me wrong and tied it all together perfectly.

"The jokes are a mile a minute..."
