Jamie Dornan movie directed by Kenneth Branagh has release date set

Kenneth Branagh's new drama Belfast starring Jamie Dornan is to be released on November 12.

It's definitely led by Northern Ireland talent, with Ciaran Hinds also taking centre stage.

The film is directed and written by Branagh and also stars Caitriona Balfe and Judi Dench along with newcomer Jude Hill.

Belfast tells the story of one boy’s childhood amid the turmoil of the late 1960s.

Jamie Doran along with Balfe play a glamorous working-class couple caught up in it, with Judi Dench and Ciaran Hinds playing the grandparents, Variety reports.

Universal Pictures are to unveil the film internationally but Focus Features will distribute it domestically.

The 60-year-old filmmaker from Belfast has called this his most personal film.

He has previously directed Cinderella, Thor and Murder on the Orient Express, but Belfast is close to his heart.

“It’s about coming home — a dramatic journey of excitement, emotion and humour,” he said.

Along with Branagh who has been nominated for five Oscars, Tamar Thomas and Laura Berwick are also producers.

Just last week, it was reported that Branagh is to direct a new Bee Gees movie, delving into the lives of brothers brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb, the stars responsible for hits including How Deep Is Your Love and Saturday Night Fever.
