Jamie Dornan 'emails' his annoyance to person who criticised his Northern Irish accent

Jamie Dornan had reportedly 'emailed' the person who criticised the actor's North Irish accent in a movie review.

The critic, Kevin Maher, reviewed the movie Nowhere Special which didn't even feature the actor.

Nowhere Special stars James Norton, Daniel Lamont, and Eileen O'Higgins and was filmed in Northern Ireland.

Although the movie doesn't even have the Fifty Shades actor in it, it didn't stop Kevin from referring to the star's accent.

The critic claimed that lead actor James - from London - put on a 'more convincing' Belfast accent than Jamie 'can manage in real life'.

"You see, to my super-sensitised ears, his soft Belfast tones (he grew up there) have just a hint of an Americanised flattening, the kind of accent alteration that you get from years spent as a globally recognised media figure," Kevin had said.

He went on to say that most people wouldn't even notice the 'accent shift, but I do'.

Recalling the comparison he made between Nowhere Special's lead actor and Jamie, the critic said it was a " Big mistake."

Kevin then claimed that he received an e-mail from Jamie - who grew up in Belfast -explaining his irritation at being 'slammed in a review of a film in which he didn’t even feature'.

At first, Kevin was convinced it wasn't even Jamie and responded to the e-mail with quotation marks around the star's name.

However, the critic claimed that Jamie proved the e-mail was actually from him by DM'ing him on Instagram.

"Dornan replied that it was indeed him... and that even with the accent explanation considered he couldn’t help but detect a certain sneering tone in my allusion," Kevin added.

Mirror have contacted his reps for comment.

After the critic watched The Tourist - a new mini-series featuring Jamie - he instantly regretted making the comments.

Jamie (and Emily Blunt ) was previously mocked on social media for his attempt at an Irish accent after the release of the trailer of Wild Mountain Thyme in November.

In the film, Emily and Jamie portray neighbouring farmers, Anthony and Rosemary, who pursue a winding romance set amid the picturesque landscapes of rural Ireland.

Christopher Walken and Jon Hamm also join the star-studded cast, and yet not a single person seems to have perfected the correct accent according to Twitter critics.

"How in Christ’s name is Jamie Dornan’s Irish accent the worst one??" one fan wrote on Twitter.

One critic wrote: "Jamie Dornan sounds like every non irish person trying to do an irish accent ever in Wild Mountain Thyme and that’s a bloody Scottish song anyway!!"
