Jamie Carragher will be 'one of the lucky few' Liverpool fans at Anfield tonight

Jamie Carragher will be 'one of the lucky few' at Anfield tonight to see Liverpool lift the trophy after being crowned Premier League champions.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds took the title for the first time in 30 years last month after Man City lost points in a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea.

Liverpool will finally be presented with the Premier League trophy during a special presentation at Anfield this evening.

But fans have been warned to stay away from the stadium.

Those who gather outside Anfield stadium for tonight's trophy lift risk being issued with fixed penalty notices and in extreme cases arrest, according to guidelines issued to police.

The police approach to any such illegal mass gathering is to "engage, explain, encourage, and only as a last resort enforce."

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher appeared via video link on Good Morning Britain where he confirmed he will be at the stadium to see the team lift the coveted trophy.

He said: "I'll be one of the lucky few.

"... I think Liverpool have organised something where they're going to lift the trophy in the Kop... so it will be different."

The Bootle born pundit also praised Jurgen Klopp and the respect he commands from players and fans alike.

GMB presenter Ranvir Singh asked about a public celebration parade and added: "Presumably the city needs it at some point."

Liverpool deputy mayor Wendy Simon said: "We're in discussions with the club... there's no date yet."

*Good Morning Britain airs on ITV weekdays from 6am
