Jamie Carragher wades in on Mohamed Salah vs Sadio Mane debate by picking favourite

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on his favourite player between Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Mane and Salah form part of Liverpool's famed front three, alongside Roberto Firmino, and have played a starring role in helping the Reds move to within two wins of securing their first league title in 30 years.

Indeed, the pair shared the Golden Boot last season with Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Jurgen Klopp's side narrowly missed out on the league title.

And, having again played an instrumental role this season, former Anfield defender Carragher was asked to pick one.

During an Instagram Live Q&A, Carragher said: "Salah or Mane? I’m a Mane man.

"I’m a big fan of Mane. He’s my favourite Liverpool player.

Carragher was later asked to compare Mane to Virgil van Dijk, the Dutch defender who has also enjoyed a sensational campaign.

"I think Virgil is Liverpool’s best player but Mane is my favourite."

Carragher also thinks Werner's proposed transfer to Liverpool this summer could be called off as clubs get to grips with the chaos caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

RB Leipzig superstar Werner has long been earmarked as a potential summer signing for Klopp, as the Germany international has seen his profile rise during a prolific season in front of goal.

The former Stuttgart forward has scored 27 times in 36 matches this season, including four in the Champions League, to make this his most impressive campaign in front of goal to date.

Indeed, Klopp is believed to view Werner as a much-needed alternative to Liverpool's famed front three of Firmino, Mane and Salah.

"Timo Werner to Liverpool?" questioned Carragher during an Instagram Live Q&A. "It looked nailed on before the situation we’re in now so it may affect transfers this summer.

"It may have to be put on the back burner, maybe for the following summer."
