Jamie Carragher trolls James Maddison over England chances with Jordan Henderson jibe

Jamie Carragher has poked fun at Leicester's James Maddison over his lack of England game time.

The pair were involved in a Sky Sports quiz hosted by Martin Tyler.

Maddison, who had started his career at Coventry, was asked which current captain also spent time at the Sky Blues.

The 23-year-old stalled before Carragher said to him: "He's one of the reasons you can't get a game for England."

Upon which point Maddison clocked that the answer was Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson.

Both Englishman had spells in the midlands with Maddison moving to Norwich and Henderson returning to Sunderland.

Henderson's rise at Liverpool has bee a gradual one following his move to Anfield in 2011.

But he is now among Jurgen Klopp's most important players and is poised to become a Premier League winner - provided the season isn't voided.

It has also seen him cement a place in England's midfield - a task Maddison is still trying to fulfill.

The Foxes playmaker has emerged as a real talent after heading to the King Power from Norwich.

But despite a fantastic season at club level Maddison is yet to become a fixture with England.

He made his debut under Gareth Southgate in November 2019 against Montenegro.

And after the game he joked that he wasn't prepared to swap his shirt as he'd promised to give the shirt to his dad.

"You would have had to fight me to get that off me," he said.

"I’ll get it signed by all the lads and give it to my dad. He said when I was a little kid, if you ever play for England I want your shirt so I have to give it to him."
