Jamie Carragher thinks Everton hammering will make Man City FEAR Man Utd

Hopeful Jamie Carragher thinks Manchester City will now be fearing the wounded Manchester United animal.

The Sky Sports pundit claims Wednesday's derby will be more difficult for the title-chasers because of their rivals' mauling at Everton .

United went down 4-0, a performance Carragher's appalled colleague Gary Neville called 'rancid'.

Now the former Liverpool defender thinks the Reds will have a bigger point to prove to their fans after that shameful showing on Sunday.

“I think if United would have won 4-0 at Everton as opposed to what’s happened I think it's different," Carragher said on Monday Night Football.

Sky Sports name studio guests for Man Utd vs Man City - and it could be awkward

“I think Pep Guardiola will be thinking ‘I didn’t want that’.

“I know that might sound strange but Pep Guardiola will be thinking it’s a derby game, they lost 4-0, the reaction, even the crowd.

“People are saying they want City to win the title, of course they do - that’s football, that’s fans but even as a United supporter watching that yesterday they don’t want to go to Old Trafford on Wednesday and watch their team get beat three or four nil again.”

But that doesn't mean Carragher thinks United are good enough to stop City in their tracks.

What Paul Pogba demands Man Utd's players must do for fans after Everton defeat

“I don’t know if Manchester United will get a result but we’ve all been involved in bad games and what we saw yesterday, we all have one of those a season, where you get questioned your attitude - it’s just a bad day.

“United have had five or six this season and that was that bad and for me the worst since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

“I’ve watched a lot of Manchester United in those years and I think that was the worst.

“De Gea’s apologised on social media, Solskjaer is going to the crowd and apologising, there will have been harsh words at the training ground today.

“Forget the Liverpool v City title race and all this stuff that’s getting talked about going into that game.

Man Utd fans furious with Paul Pogba as he hugs and jokes with Kurt Zouma in tunnel

“I think sometimes when something is that bad, it’s your own personal pride. I mean the whole world will be watching Manchester United now.”

Neville didn't hold back after watching his old club pulled to pieces.

"There is some Japanese knotweed at that football club and it's attacking the foundations of the house and it needs dealing with properly," he complained.

"Manchester United players, honestly it's embarrassing watching some of them out there on the pitch. I'm absolutely furious.

"I am watching players out here who play for Liverpool and Man City and they're working their absolute backsides off every single week for their football club. And I'm watching Man United players on that football pitch walking around, saunter round, jogging back."
