Jamie Carragher teases Erling Haaland Monday Night Football 'debut' amid Premier League links

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has claimed on Twitter that Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is set to make his Monday Night Football ‘debut’ this evening.

Given Carragher’s earlier tweet, questioning what subjects people would like to see analysed on tonight’s show, which included Dortmund’s clash with Bayern Munich at the weekend, it is yet unclear whether he means they will simply be analysing him, or if he will be making a cameo appearance.

One way or another, it will almost certainly not be the first and last time that Haaland makes an appearance on the show, as reports of a summer move away from Germany to the Premier League continue to surface.

The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have both been linked with the 21-year-old, while Watford striker Josh King, an international teammate of Haaland’s, teased Leeds United as a potential destination, although that appears very unlikely at least in the short-term future.

Speaking on one of Ben Foster’s vlogs in recent weeks, King said: “I do know that he loves Leeds. I don’t know if that will happen, but we’ll see. I would love to see him in the Prem.”

Haaland was born in Leeds and on several occasions has been pictured wearing merchandise of the club his Dad Alf-Inge used to play for.

He was also videoed after a game between Norway and Northern Ireland speaking to Stuart Dallas, where he asked Dallas for his shirt and whispered ‘marching on together’ in his ear.

But while those links may give Leeds fans a glimmer of hope, his record since moving to Dortmund suggests that once he does secure a move away, it will be to a European powerhouse.

After joining the German giants from Salzburg in January 2020, he has netted 72 goals in 71 appearances, making him one of the most prolific goal scorers on the planet.
