Jamie Carragher steps in to sponsor Marine tie against Tottenham Hotspur in FA Cup

Jamie Carragher will sponsor Marine in their historic FA Cup tie against Tottenham Hotspur after the club were let down days before the game.

Jose Mourinho brings his Premier League side to Crosby on Sunday for a third round tie which will see the largest gap between two teams in the history of the competition.

Eighth-tier Marine were left disappointed when a previous sponsor pulled out of their commitment before the tie but Carragher and his JC23 Foundation charity will brand the dugouts and pre-match training wear.

Liverpool legend Carragher and his JC23 Foundation help over 1,000 good causes each year including sick, disabled and disadvantaged children as well as other community organisations.

Marine chairman Paul Leary said: “We are indebted to Jamie and the JC23 Foundation for their support in this magical game for Marine.

"The JC23 Foundation do magnificent work in helping young people not just in Liverpool but right across the world. We are proud to partner with them on this special occasion.”

Marine have won seven matches to reach the third round of the FA Cup.

The visit of Tottenham Hotspur will be played behind-closed-doors but is live on BBC One.
