Jamie Carragher has admitted that he is “sick” of making excuses for Liverpool after their defeat to Everton on Sunday.
The Reds suffered their first loss in a Merseyside derby in 10 years as Carlo Ancelotti’s men completely outplayed the hosts.
Richarlison got the Toffees off to a flyer as he broke free before dispatching the ball into the back of the net after just three minutes.
The Reds had chances to get back in the game, but were left kicking themselves when Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty wrapped up all three points for Everton after Dominic Calvert-Lewin was brought down in the box by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool’s performance was a far cry from the levels they have showed over the last two years.
But Reds legend Jamie Carragher insisted that they got exactly what they deserved, even though they were missing key man Virgil van Dijk.
"Liverpool have been so poor, they have got everything deserved,” Carragher said on commentary.
“They can't keep saying 'Virgil van Dijk is out'. I'm sick of saying it myself."
Carragher’s disappointment didn’t end there though, as he took aim at their lack of creativity too.
"Going forward is as big a problem as what we're seeing defensively from Liverpool now,” he also said on air.
"I know Liverpool have dominated possession but it doesn't mean anything if you don't create. And that is a big problem for this Liverpool team.
"Very rarely do you see Liverpool play now when you expect them to score."
Meanwhile, Graeme Souness added: "They're a shadow of their former selves" said Graeme Souness post-game. "They're an easy touch."
"2-0 doesn't flatter Everton. They deserved to win it. In all the areas that really matter, they were better than Liverpool."
The defeat sees Liverpool drop down to sixth place in the Premier League, level on points with Everton, and the Toffees have a game in hand.
Klopp's side will look to bounce back when they travel to Sheffield United next Sunday evening.
