Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed he contacted Harry Maguire to provide support following his arrest last summer.
The Manchester United captain came under intense scrutiny for the start of the 2020/21 season having been arrested during a vacation in Greece.
Maguire was free to return to United after seeing his sentence suspended, but struggled initially after coming under the spotlight.
That difficult period included a red card after 40 minutes against Denmark, who England face in Wednesday's Euro 2020.

Now, Carragher has shared how he reached out to Maguire to issue advice — having similarly found himself under the spotlight for off-field incidents previously.
“Knowing how much support is around you is appreciated in such a situation, I contacted Maguire,” Carragher wrote for The Telegraph.
“We exchanged a few messages in which I tried to offer reassurance from my own lof being thrust into the limelight for the wrong reasons. I told him to keep his head up and said that the current difficulties would pass.”
While Maguire's start to the season was slow, he soon found his feet and excelled for United but saw his season ended prematurely due to injury.
The 28-year-old subsequently missed the opening two games of England's campaign at the European Championships, making his return in the final group-stage match against the Czech Republic.
Maguire found the net in England's dominant 4-0 quarter-final victory over Ukraine on Saturday, his fourth goal at international level.
