Jamie Carragher shares excitement about Marcelo Bielsa ahead of Premier League debut

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has shared his excitement about seeing Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United in the Premier League ahead of the first game of the season.

The Whites face their first top-flight match in 16 years when they travel to Anfield for this afternoon's clash, where they come up against the defending champions.

There is plenty of anticipation regarding Bielsa in the top-flight of English football, which has been heavily discussed ahead of the opening game.

Among those looking forward to the historic moment is Carragher, who has explained why all the pressure is upon the Reds rather than Leeds.

"I can't wait to see his Leeds team, I don't think he'll take a backwards step. We saw highlights last season, where they won the Championship, and I always remember the performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup," he told Sky Sports News.

"I think it will be a tough game for Liverpool. They played Norwich City last season, who were the champions of the Championship as the first game, and it will be the same again today. I expect it to be a completing different game and a much more difficult proposition for Liverpool.

"I think it's more imperative for Liverpool to get off to a better start today. Nobody is expecting Leeds to challenge the top-six, I think Bielsa will want more than just staying up but there's plenty of time for Leeds over the 38 games to get the points that they need."
