Jamie Carragher sends six-word Cristiano Ronaldo message after Patrice Evra criticism

Jamie Carragher has hit back at comments made by Patrice Evra after the Liverpool legend criticised Cristiano Ronaldo.

Now a Sky Sports pundit, former Reds defender Carragher has the subject of criticism from Evra last month after his comments about the Manchester United forward.

Carragher was involved in an intense on-screen debate with Roy Keane about Ronaldo at the end of November.

“You finish second and sign Ronaldo at 36 - you’re not going to win the League in four years.

"If you sign someone at 36 it’s to win right now," Carragher said on Sky Sports after Man United drew 1-1 with Chelsea.

“If you sign Varane, a four-time Champions League winner, it's to win right now. Are they any closer to winning the league?”

This conversation led to Evra calling out Carragher to “stay in his lane” after Ronaldo scored twice against Arsenal at the start of December to take his total goal tally in his career past the 800-mark.

“There's a lot of talk about this player and I really don't understand it,” Evra told Amazon last month, when speaking about Ronaldo.

“Some player like Jamie Carragher, he had 775 games, today Cristiano scored 801 goals. And those kind of people talk about Cristiano.

“Sometimes I just think people have to stay in their lane and I don't understand that hate.

“Sometimes people wake up and want to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Now, following Man United’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves where Ronaldo played the full 90 minutes, Carragher has hit back at those previous remarks.

Writing on Twitter, Carragher said: “Getting back out of my lane!”
