Jamie Carragher sends Nicolas Pepe message after Arsenal's draw with Manchester United

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Arsenal could have won against Manchester United if Bukayo Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had been playing.

The Gunners were without Saka and Aubameyang in the 0-0 draw with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men, with Mikel Arteta's side having to settle for a point in a hard-fought encounter.

Both sides had chances, with the best of them falling to United striker Edinson Cavani, while Arsenal had opportunities too, with Nicolas Pepe firing wide and Alexandre Lacazette hitting the bar.

No-one was able to make the breakthrough though as the two sides played out a first goalless draw since 2014, leaving the Gunners tenth in the table with 31 points from 21 games.

But former Liverpool defender Carragher felt that having Aubameyang or Saka in the team may have made the difference for Arteta as he delivered his verdict on Pepe and Arsenal.

"You actually think of last season and where they got the success from,” said Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports.

“It was from being really organised like they were [against Manchester United] and having that X-factor on the counter-attack.

“You just look at their front three. [Nicolas] Pepe, it’s just not quite happened for him since he has come into the club.

“You just think how much they miss [Bukayo] Saka and [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, of course. It makes a huge difference.

“And you think about those two, who have been playing today, and if those chances fell to them then you think they would have taken one. That’s the difference in quality they are missing.”
