Jamie Carragher's stinging verdict on David Luiz amid warning for Arsenal's Calum Chambers

Jamie Carragher has insisted that David Luiz isn't good enough to play for Arsenal but he said Calum Chambers must stop making the same mistakes as his team-mate.

The Gunners were comfortably swept aside by Manchester City on Sunday as a Kevin De Bruyne brace and a goal for Raheem Sterling saw them run out 3-0 winners at the Emirates.

Indeed, that was the score at half time as City blew Arsenal away with a devastating opening 45 minutes.

The Gunners defence were once again all at sea, with the midfield nowhere to be seen as City picked apart the hosts with ease.

Carragher highlighted City's second goal, made by De Bruyne after a storming run, in which Chambers was shown backing off all the way into his own area.

It's a tactic that Luiz has adopted in recent years as he has lost his mobility and one which Carragher believes is the reason he isn't in the team.

While labelling the Brazilian as "not good enough", Carragher has warned Chambers he must be more aggressive and not make the same mistakes if Arsenal are to address their worrying defensive record.

"Sometimes there is a mistake in a goal, Chambers in the second half they go through on goal, everyone can see that, but these are things that are killing the team," Carragher explained on Sky Sports' Super Sunday.

"Your job, sometimes you think you're look after yourself but you're hurting the rest of the team. That's why David Luiz isn't playing, that's why he's gone with the younger lad (Chambers) and I'm pleased he's gone with him. We all know Luiz isn't good enough.

"All he does is drop off and protect himself but he's (Chambers) catching that disease as well. It's got to stop. Make the mistake going forward and being aggressive, that's what Freddie Ljungberg will want."
