Jamie Carragher's Rafa Benitez prediction will please Man City fans ahead of Newcastle vs Liverpool FC

Manchester City are going toe-to-toe with Liverpool for the Premier League title and it seems everyone has their own take on how the next two weeks will unfold.

The Blues have the clear advantage as they know wins against Leicester City and Brighton will ensure they retain their crown, but any slip-ups could lead to Liverpool landing the league title for the first time in 29 years.

Man City may be a little worried about two factors in the coming days that suggest from the outset that Liverpool may have some advantages.

Former Liverpool managers Rafa Benitez and Brendan Rodgers both have a role to play in the title race as Newcastle United host Liverpool on Saturday evening and Leicester City travel to Man City on Monday night.

But Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher actually believes the Benitez factor in the title race will be a negative one for Liverpool, with the former defender's comments likely delighting Man City supporters.

Pep Guardiola believes Liverpool FC's loss to Barcelona won't affect them in the Premier League

Rafa Benitez sends Man City and Liverpool FC 'clear' Premier League title message

"I played six years under Rafa at Anfield and know how ambitious he is," Carragher told The Telegraph . "He has not given up on returning to the highest level. In a season in which Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino have been lauded, Benitez will be frustrated he has not had the same resources to challenge on a level playing field.

"I am not sure Rafa will particularly want Klopp to win the title. Not because of any bitterness, but because deep down he will harbour ambitions of going back to Anfield one day and becoming the manager to end the Premier League drought.

Pep Guardiola tells Man City players what to expect from Leicester City

Riyad Mahrez can send Pep Guardiola Man City message against former club Leicester City

"Games such as this offer an opportunity to show how - when it comes to tactics - he remains one of the best. He will be working overtime to organise his team to make life as difficult as possible for Liverpool. Benitez will sit deep, challenge Liverpool to get beyond his back five and seek to play on the counter-attack.

"There will be no favours offered, nor any expected. Liverpool have had to earn every point this season and it will be no different on Saturday night."
