Jamie Carragher's hilarious response as Gary Neville seeks to wind up Liverpool fans again

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have been involved in a Twitter exchange amidst the lack of football on a Saturday for the first time since the Coronavirus took hold and halted the professional game across the continent.

Neville replied to Carragher's initial tweet, which summed up the feelings of most Liverpool supporters following comments made by West Ham United chairwoman Karren Brady earlier today.

After Neville mocked Carragher, who stated that it was obvious the matches being missed at the moment during the period of postponements should be rearranged and played at a later date, by replying with a photograph of him pretending to look upset, the former Reds defender hit back.

He tweeted: "The man who said the competition must finish at some stage to help smaller clubs, now retweets calls for it to be cancelled.

"Must have forgot about the other clubs in @EFL bet they all wish they had Peter Lim bank rolling them."

Carragher was referring to Neville's Salford City, who he co-owns along with the Valencia owner, Lim, who was once linked with a takeover at Anfield .

Neville simply responded: "Very touchy today James..."

Premier League matches are currently expected to resume from April 3, though that date could yet be pushed back should the outbreak of the virus not be dealt with sufficiently before then.
