Jamie Carragher reveals Liverpool vs Manchester United viewing figures and takes aim at opposition fans

Jamie Carragher has revealed that Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United attracted a peak audience viewing figure of 3.9 million people.

The Reds claimed a 2-0 win against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Anfield to move one step closer to ending their 30-year wait for a league title.

Goals from Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah were enough for Jurgen Klopp’s side who now sit 16-points clear of second-place Manchester City.

But in true Carragher style, the Kop icon couldn’t help but aim a cheeky dig at those not backing the Reds for Premier League glory this season, when revealing the figures.

He wrote on Twitter: “Viewing figures of 3.9m peak yesterday at Anfield! And people say they don’t want Liverpool to win the league!! The country is gripped!!! 2nd biggest ever for @SkySports the highest was also a Man United defeat.”

Liverpool’s win over United moved them 30-points clear of their arch-rivals in the table, with the Reds retuning to Premier League action against Wolves on Thursday night.
