Jamie Carragher responds to criticism after outburst during Tottenham's defeat at Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher was a happy man during Liverpool’s dramatic win over Tottenham yesterday (Sunday).

Tottenham almost pulled off a remarkable victory at Anfield let alone a draw, with Moussa Sissoko going through on goal late on with the scores level.

Lucas Moura had previously equalised for the visitors in the 70th minute which cancelled out Roberto Firmino’s opener for the Reds in the first half.

But not only did Sissoko miss a glorious chance when he skied a left-footed shot over of the bar, Toby Alderweireld turned the ball into his own net in injury time after Hugo Lloris could only parry Mohamed Salah’s header from close range.

This led to Carragher taking the microphone on the Sky Sports commentary to shout: “Mo Salah you little dancer!”

Liverpool fans loved the reaction from the former Reds defender but other supporters didn’t, particularly Spurs, Manchester City and Manchester United followers.

Carragher, though, has not backed down despite criticism but did admit that his former side were lucky to beat Spurs.

“I don’t apologise. I’m a massive Liverpool fan and I’m desperate for them to win the league,” he told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool didn’t play well and were lucky. Sometimes in competitions, you start to think ‘is our name on it’ as Liverpool have had luck.

“Liverpool weren’t at their best but Jurgen Klopp called it before the game about how the nerves will play a part at different times. He said that this is the time to enjoy it.

Liverpool fans all noticed what Virgil van Dijk did after the injury-time winner against Spurs

“I can’t say many Liverpudlians were enjoying this. History tells you that to win a title, you have to score late winning goals, and Liverpool have done it so often this season.”
