Jamie Carragher predicts when Liverpool and Man City's Premier League battle will be decided

Jamie Carragher has given his verdict on when the Premier League title will be won.

The Anfield legend made his prediction after Liverpool turned up the heat on Manchester City with a 2-0 win away at Cardiff City.

Second-half goals from Gini Wijnaldum and a penalty from James Milner moved Jurgen Klopp’s side back the top of the table, two points ahead of City.

With just three games remaining for Liverpool and four for City, the title race is almost guaranteed to go right down to the wire, in the tightest battle in seven years.

The Reds have a two-point lead over the champions although Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand, which comes against Manchester United away on Wednesday.

Pep Guardiola knows Liverpool are the Man City pest who aren't going anywhere

After the win, Carragher gave his prediction on when the title will be decided, which will particularly interest Liverpool supporters.

“Liverpool will beat Huddersfield on Friday and Man City know that. I think the title will be decided, whether City win it or not, in the next two games," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"If City win the next two matches, I don't think they will drop points in the last two.”

Liverpool maintained their relentless pursuit of a first Premier League title with another win against Cardiff.

Although it was a game the Reds were predicted to win, it’s one that they may have lost in previous years. The famous 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, at a similar point in the season, springs to mind.

Similarly, the Reds’ former defender was equally satisfied with yet another victory for Klopp’s men.

He said: "It wasn't just the second half, it has been the last few weeks. What has been so impressive with this Liverpool team is there is no panic.

"There is more panic from the stands but you see the players on the field and they look so relaxed.

"I always look back to that Chelsea game five years ago when Liverpool looked desperate. This Liverpool team never looks desperate. They have got so many late goals."

Liverpool are back in action on Friday when they host rock-bottom side Huddersfield Town at Anfield.
