Jamie Carragher on key difference between Liverpool and Man City in Premier League title race

Jamie Carragher has explained what he believes to be the key difference between Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

City had closed the gap on Saturday with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa but Liverpool made sure it was back to six points after they defeated Spurs 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool had been 1-0 down to Tottenham at half time through Harry Kane's first minute opener but struck back through Jordan Henderson.

Mohamed Salah's penalty ensured another three points for Jurgen Klopp's side as they set the pace at the top of the league ahead of Man City.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game Carragher revealed that he always thought that his former side would go on to win the game even as they trailed.

Questioned what the confidence was based on, he explained: "How well they played. How poor Tottenham were really. I thought Spurs looked more dangerous in the second half. Going forward, they obviously had the chance from Son.

"But Liverpool are just the better team. They just steamrolled them. That's a Liverpool performance. Man City don't win games like that.

"Man City win games differently and they look better on the eye so you think that City are a better team when you watch them in terms of how they play and the amount of chances they create.

"But actually playing against Liverpool is non-stop. Every time they couldn't get out, someone is on top of them every time they get the ball out. Win the ball back and they go again.

"Yeah, Liverpool don't have De Bruyne in there, they get the creativity from the full-backs but it's just non-stop. They must be an absolute nightmare to play against, Liverpool."
