Jamie Carragher names his favourite player after Liverpool's derby victory over Everton

Jamie Carragher has revealed who his favourite Liverpool player is after the Reds defeated local rivals Everton on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's side eased past their cross city counterparts with a competent 5-2 victory at Anfield.

After a tremendous first-half attacking display, Carragher revealed Sadio Mane is the current Reds star he admires most.

The Liverpool legend wrote to Twitter: "Mane you’re a machine! 2 weeks off in the summer!!! My favourite player by a mile."

This followed a scintillating Mane assist, as the Senegal forward slid the ball through Everton's defence into the path of Divock Origi who put the Reds into an early lead.

The 27-year-old, who started without team-mates Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, showed no signs of letting up as he then set up Xherdan Shaqiri who made it 2-0 to the Reds.

Mane was supreme and his scintillating 45 minute showing was capped off by a side-footed finish on the cusp of half-time.

During the summer Mane had minimum time off after reaching both the Champions League and Africa Cup of Nations finals respectively.

Yet this hasn't halted the Senegalese international who has now scored 9 times in the Premier League so far this season.
