Jamie Carragher has drawn comparison in play styles between Chelsea striker Timo Werner and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Werner was signed for almost £50m from RB Leipzig earlier in this summer’s transfer window and made his competitive debut for the Blues on Monday evening.
The German striker scored 78 goals in 127 games in all competitions for Leipzig before securing a move to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool were also reportedly interested in the 24-year-old, but it was the Blues who eventually won the race.
Carragher - who played at the Reds for 17 years - believes Liverpool could regret not signing Werner.
As well as that, the Sky Sports pundit drew comparison with Werner’s play style to Henry’s - with the way they both utilise the left channel with their blistering speed.
When asked on Sky Sports if Werner could be the one that got away from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Carragher said: “He could be. Right now, he wouldn’t get in the Liverpool front three.
“Watching him for Leipzig, you think about how much he loves that left channel. You think of the greatest striker in the Premier League in Thierry Henry - who used to favour that left-hand side. He can play left of the front three, but predominantly, he will be the central striker.”
The former Arsenal striker scored 175 goals in 258 games in the Premier League - making the Frenchman the fifth-highest scorer in the competition’s history.
