Jamie Carragher makes incredible revelation about Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino

Jamie Carragher has revealed Roberto Firmino's season could be over.

Liverpool hit man Firmino has been struggling for fitness over the past week after he suffered a groin injury in training.

The Brazilian was diagnosed with a small muscle tear and missed the Reds' 5-0 thrashing of Huddersfield last weekend.

But Firmino returned to action as a 79th minute substitute during Jurgen Klopp's men's 3-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Firmino was not included in Klopp's matchday squad for the Premier League clash against Newcastle .

And Carragher believes the striker will miss the second leg against Barca next week and may not feature again this campaign.

“Roberto Firmino will be struggling (to play) midweek and if he’s struggling midweek there is probably a good chance his season may be over,” said Carragher, speaking to Geoff Shreeves on Sky Sports Instagram live.

“Certainly, if Liverpool don’t make the Champions League final which looks very unlikely.
