Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has hinted Manchester City should consider a summer deal for reported Chelsea target Erling Haaland.
Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move for the Norwegian superstar striker ahead of this summer, along with a whole host of teams from Manchester United to Real Madrid.
It has been reported Haaland could opt to stay at Borussia Dortmund having only signed for the Bundesliga giants last summer from Red Bull Salzburg.
Haaland has a £63million release clause that comes into play in the summer of 2022, but this season he will likely cost around £100million, if not more.
And Chelsea are said to be interested, but former Liverpool defender turned pundit Carragher has discussed talk of Manchester City pulling off a move.
“I think with Man City having problems with strikers," he said on Sky Sports when discussing Premier League table-topping City's striker issues.
"[Gabriel] Jesus didn’t play [against Liverpool], how much confidence does Pep [Guardiola] have in him?
"[Sergio] Aguero being out and talk of City maybe going big in the summer and bringing Haaland to the Premier League, so other people have to step up to the plate and [Ilkay Gundogan] has done it more than anyone."
Haaland has scored 27 goals in 30 league appearances so far for Dortmund since his £17.5million move from Salzburg in January of last year.
Chelsea spent the best part of £50million to strengthen their striking department last summer with the signing of Timo Werner, but the German was used out wide under Frank Lampard and as one of two strikers under Thomas Tuchel.
The Blues also have Tammy Abraham as an option up top, while Olivier Giroud could leave when his contract expires this summer, perhaps creating space for a bank-bursting Haaland transfer.
