Jamie Carragher makes Christian Pulisic prediction in response to Eden Hazard claim

Have Chelsea discovered their own Eden Hazard in Christian Pulisic?

Well, the USA international was likened to the former Blues winger by Joe Cole after scoring against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final first-leg on Tuesday night.

"I love Pulisic. At the back end of last season, he was Chelsea’s best player by a mile," Cole told BT Sport. "He looked like Eden Hazard, he could go both ways and score goals but the injuries have cost him.

"I’ve felt a little bit of a chink in his armour with his mentality. A player of his quality shouldn’t go as long as he has without having an affect on the game, I don’t know why that is.

"He's a young man, he’s in a new country and I think he’s going to be a massive player for Chelsea.

"He's well liked and respected in the dressing room. The club loves the fact that he’s a gem and he’s a marketing rise in America, he’s a God, but as a player, he more than holds his own. I think he’s terrific."

One person who shares the same opinion of Pulisic is Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.

However, the Sky Sports pundit does not believe the forward will ever reach the level Hazard set in the Premier League whilst at Chelsea or for Belgium at the 2018 World Cup.

"I’m a big fan but I don’t think he’ll get to the level of Eden Hazard, apologies, he won’t," Carragher told

"Eden Hazard was the best player in the Premier League for four years and Belgium finished third in the World Cup [in 2018], he was the best player in the tournament – that is the level we are talking about with Hazard.

"This is not me knocking Pulisic, it might look that on social media after the show from certain people.

"But I think we forget how good Hazard was.

"He was my favourite player in the Premier League and for Pulisic to get there and to light up a major tournament for the US will be difficult.

"Yes, I think he can have a brilliant career and he has a lot of potential but I don’t see him getting to that level."
