Jamie Carragher makes brutal Premier League and Champions League prediction about Spurs

Jamie Carragher has insisted that Tottenham will not win the Premier League or Champions League if they don't make changes to their squad.

Spurs have endured a poor start to the 2019/20 campaign which has seen them pick up only 12 points from their opening nine matches.

That is a far cry from the form which allowed them to finish in the top four in four consecutive campaigns ahead of this term, but the wheels appear to have fallen off for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

Carragher feels that is the case for Tottenham, who have had to deal with plenty of player unrest following an array of speculation surrounding the futures of several of the club's star first-team players.

Christian Eriksen has been the biggest name to show a desire to leave but is still at the club, something which has almost added to the uncertainty.

Carragher senses now that a side who made it to the Champions League final last season has now passed its sell by date, with the former Liverpool defender explaining his worries for Pochettino's team during an appearance on Monday Night Football.

“I think this cycle is over for this Tottenham team. I love this Tottenham team and I love this Tottenham manager but last season getting to the Champions League final in some ways papered over the cracks slightly," Carragher told Sky Sports.

“They lost 20 games last season. So that was my worry for them. Are they going to get back to what we have seen the last few years this season or has this team realised it is not quite good enough to win the league and to win the Champions League?

“And it feels to me like it is physical, mental and maybe in the dressing room also. There is a lack of intensity and I just think it comes from the fact that they have been together for so long and they are not quite good enough.

“It looks to me like this is the end of it really. They are never going to win the league or the Champions League now, they are just not qualifying for the top four and that was the remit three or four years ago.”
