Jamie Carragher makes Anfield claim after Liverpool's remarkable win over Barcelona

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was part of plenty of great Anfield occasions during his glittering career.

Carragher spent 18 years with his local club and was part of their 2004/05 Champions League winning side.

But Jurgen Klopp's modern day Reds are looking to emulate their Istanbul success and pulled off an unlikely comeback of their own against Barcelona .

After seeing Liverpool thrash the Catalan club 4-0 to snatch a dramatic 4-3 aggregate win in their semi-final tie, Carragher declared it was the "greatest night ever at Anfield".

It is a bold claim given the magnitude of Liverpool's history and some of the remarkable success they have enjoyed over the years, particularly at home.

But it is a sentiment shared by many Reds fans with emotions running high after a truly unforgettable evening which left Lionel Messi and his team-mates stunned.

Carragher was clearly revelling in the glory of Liverpool's win as he also took to social media with a shot at Barcelona.

He quoted a tweet from their official account, posted when trailing 1-0 on the night, that stated: "We score, Liverpool need FIVE - and we're going to get at least one... agreed?"

Carragher accompanied the tweet with the eyes emoji as he drew attention to their ill-timed prediction just before the Reds launched their astonishing second-half onslaught.

The Sky Sports pundit even retweeted a clip of Everton fans Peter Reid and Tony Bellew celebrating Liverpool's defeat in last season's Champions League final from last May.
